Intra-Organizational Boundary Spanning

Strategic Implications for the Design, Implementation, and Use of Enterprise Social Media (ESM)

About the Project

This project contributes new knowledge about the effects of enterprise social media (ESM) on the boundary-spanning activities of virtual collaborative groups and the consequent performance of such teams.

It is funded by the Cyber-Human Systems program within the Division of Information and Intelligent Systems, Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering: Award number 1422316.

Best Paper Award

Dr. Van Osch, Steinfield, and Zhao won the Best Paper Award in the Digital and Social Media Track at the 49th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS), Kauai, Hawaii, USA, January 4-7, 2016.

New Funding

Our project was awarded an REU supplement in 2016 and we have successfully hired two new students to help bridge the gap between social and data science in the context of enterprise social media research. Learn more about our new hires under People.
