Wietske Van OschWietske van Osch is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University and a visiting professor in Information Systems at the IESEG School of Management (France). She holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc/MPhil in Organization Science from the VU University in Amsterdam and a Ph.D. in Information Systems/Economics from the University of Amsterdam Business School.

Her research has been acknowledged with many prestigious awards, including awards from the ACM SIGMIS, Academy of Management, and Association for Information Systems. She is primarily interested in the organizational effects associated with Enterprise Social Media technologies for boundary spanning, collaboration, and innovation. Current research projects involve extensive industry collaborations with companies including Steelcase and Leo Burnett Detroit and have been published in premier information systems and communication journals, including Journal of Information Technology, Information and Management, Computers in Human Behavior, and Communications Monographs.

chipsteinfieldCharles Steinfield is a professor in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. He holds a B.A. in Communication from Michigan State University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication Theory and Research from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California.

Professor Steinfield’s research focuses on the organizational and social impacts of new communication technologies, with recent projects examining the social capital implications of online social network sites, understanding barriers to industry-wide diffusion to e-commerce standards, and the role of ICTs in economic development. He currently serves as the ICT for Development lead in the USAID funded Global Center for Food Systems Innovation.

Brigitte A. Balogh (M.A., The University of Texas at Austin) is a Ph.D. candidate at Michigan State University in Media & Information Studies specializing in Advertising & Public Relations. Her primary areas of research include positive deviance, native advertising, brand communities, and enterprise social software. Her dissertation focuses on brand equity, purchase intent, and consumer engagement intention with social media, and the community and cultural factors impacting these areas.

Ruth Shillair is a PhD student in media and information studies at Michigan State University. She is interested in understanding human behavior in online spaces in order to facilitate an environment that is safe, inclusive and facilitates generative learning communities. Therefore, her research includes cyber-security, digital divide issues, and learning in massive open online communities.

Yanjie Zhao is a Research Assistant in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. She received her M.S degree in Computer Science and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University. Her research interests span a broad range of data mining problems, from big data analysis, cluster analysis to predictive modeling. She is interested in applying data mining techniques to various application domains including web data mining, text mining and social networks analysis.
